Sometimes, we are so lost in the process of ‘becoming’ that we forget what ‘being’ really is. Our dreams, aspirations and milestones to look forward to keep us occupied all the way through. And hence we make plans. When the plans don’t seem to be working, we either give up or take a detour to make a new plan.

That’s justifiable as what we’re taught is that ‘life is a journey and we should keep moving’ Even though that is a hardcore truth, what one often forgets is to just ‘be’ in the present.

We are so busy painting pictures of a perfect future that we often forget about the moment at hand. It’s same like the sand that you pick up at the beach, eventually it slips! We tend to consider happiness as an outcome of some actions. Be it a big pay check or a soothing vacation we always wanted. Surely that’s great. But this Destination Addiction is a risky affair. Joy can be situationless and boundless.

When we consciously decide to soak in every ounce of the present moment then only can we think about gaining eternal happiness. But being human it is practically impossible to achieve this state as our minds keep wandering in the past and the future with an unmatchable pace.

Getting out of the continuous loop of racing is tough. Keeping a check on oneself can be a good idea to start with. Rejoicing the little pleasures that we are privileged to experience makes it all worth living. Having a mental checklist of small things that make you happy and sharing those with loved ones can be a value addition to life. Doing all we can to tick every item on that checklist frequently will make you fall in love with who you are and what you do. Be it something you’re passionate about, your hobbies or any activity that brings a smile on your face.

Take a deep dive in the ocean of the present. Train your mind to not play hide and seek with the current world. Find souls of your breed that can accompany you while you’re on the journey of ‘being’. It will just be mesmerizing; something you can cherish for the rest of the life!
